Hello,

The next Melbourne meet-up is on June 28th, just over a week away (at Inspire9 in Richmond from 6pm, as usual)!

I'd like to stick with the "1–2 talks and some lightning talks" format if possible, and it was awesome to see folks stand-up and speak for the first time, so…

1. Any suggestions on a lightning talk theme, or shall we just open it up?

2. Who's keen on presenting (either lightning talks or something a bit longer)?

Cheers,
Justin

I like the way it worked last time, with a reasonably broad theme… I think that opening it up wide would be a bit too unfocused. How about discussions about all things deployment?

I'm in!

I like it. Any counter offers?

Hmmm, I could probably do a lightning talk on the two little gems I just built. https://github.com/fredwu/bustle and http://localhost:3000/api_taster

Cool :)

I'd go with opening it up – far more inspiring!

I could give a quick lightning talk about modifying and reloading code in a running process (if this line shocked you, I am not talking about doing that on a production server … or am I? :D).

Cheers,
   Florian

I'll briefly touch on the different approaches I took to build the two gems, so I'm hoping I could pick both. ;)

P.S. I'm stuck on a Windows laptop that only has HDMI, is that going to work with the projector?

From memory, the i9 projector has a HDMI cable, but it's not nearly as long as the VGA one. So, it should work, but you won't be able to have the laptop up the front.

There are no rules to lightning talks, other than the obvious time limit of 3–5 mins :)
