Hi Krzysztof,

First, congratulations on the move.

I doubt you'll have much difficulty finding work in either Sydney or Melbourne.

The meet up is a great place to meet the community and find out who is hiring.

Feel free to contact me off list if you have any specific questions.

Hi Krzysztof,
Welcome. As Daniel said, there is plenty of work in either Melbourne or Sydney.

I'll mention you to a few of the Managers where I work.

Regards,

Luke

My name is Krzysztof Kotlarek. I am Ruby on Rails developer from Poland. Currently I am working for start-up from Germany. I'm going to work there to end of 2012.

I will relocate with my wife to Melbourne or Sydney in January 2013 and really looking forward for the upcoming challenges and new opportunities. For now I booked flight to Melbourne but if there will be more job opportunities in Sydney I can change my flight details.

More details about me you can find here http://kotlarek.eu

Please advise me if you know someone who wants to hire ruby developer.

See you at the Melbourne or Sydney ruby meetup!

Cheers,
Krzysztof

Welcome!

I assume you've heard about RubyConf Australia, which will be
happening in February? http://www.rubyconf.org.au/

Tickets for the conference itself haven't been sold out - they're
merely on hold until the new year.

I'd recommend lang-8.com for practicing English, except you mention on
your website that you're already fluent.

Hi Krzysztof

Great to hear you found a job. It's worth noting that there will be more conference tickets available, it's just the early-bird version that has no more left. (And if I'm wrong about this, one of the organisers better correct me!)

So if you are in Australia in February, you should definitely come down to Melbourne for RubyConf AU.

Cheers

Accommodation can be hard to find, more likely just very expensive ... if you are on your own, look for a room or house/apartment share ... will save you a lot of time and money in short term till you figure out the lay of the land

If you're after a house/apartment share, two major resources I know of
are gumtree.com.au and http://au.easyroommate.com/ . Gumtree is more
popular.

I wrote a scraper for the latter -

There will be a small number of extra tickets available soon and there's currently a waiting list you can add yourself to.

Cheers,
Keith
