Ruby Australia

Next month the tenth Australian Rails Camp will be held in the Adelaide Hills. This landmark event is testimony to the vibrant Ruby on Rails community in Australia and the generosity of those who have volunteered to organise the Rails Camps during the last five years.

At Railscamp 9 in Lake Ainsworth a conversation was started about the founding of a parent body to support those organising future camps. The potential for supporting Australian Ruby conferences was also kept in mind. Those at the meeting agreed that we should proceed to establish such an organisation.

To that end, I am happy to announce that Ruby Australia Incorporated is now a reality. Thanks to the hard work of Richie Khoo and Pat Allan, we have a constitution, an ABN and a bank account. I must stress that we have taken a Minimum Viable Product approach in order to do what we can initially to support the organisation of Railscamp X, at which an AGM of Ruby Australia will be held to elect office bearers for 2012.

Interim office bearers are: Keith Pitty (President), Sebastian von Conrad (Vice-President), Richie Khoo (Secretary), Pat Allan (Treasurer).

If anyone has any questions about Ruby Australia, please feel free to ask via this list.

We look forward to Ruby Australia supporting the Australian Ruby community for many years to come.
