Hi,
I have some problems with WriteRoom (Mac AppStore Version), Quickcursor and Voodoopad. I can start WriteRoom coming from VP but when I am finished (cmd + w), WR says "You don't have the permission to write to the folder that the file XY is in."… So it does not go the way back… After posting this on the Voodoopad-forum, the VP-dev Gus Muller suggested that it has something to do with sandboxing on the side of WriteRoom. Any ideas who this could be solved besides using another text editor?

In QuickCursor's Preferences: Try adding .txt as a temporary file extension for VoodooPad.

VP's dev is pretty much correct: 10.8 sandboxing added a number of extra restrictions, including denying WriteRoom permissions on 'extensionless' documents. We're still working on more sandboxing tweaks, but this should work (as it did for Mail.app for the same symptoms).

To clarify, use 'txt' as the extension. It doesn't need the period.

Here's a screenshot example of how it should work: http://cl.ly/JSpK

Thanks for the quick answer and the idea how to solve the problem. Unfortunatly this did not work. Same as before I get "You don't have permission…". Seems a bit more complicated in this case…

Hmm, okay. Thanks for letting me know.

The website's version of WriteRoom works as a fully-featured 30-day trial, and isn't subject to App Store sandboxing. If we don't have a fix in the App Store by that point, contact me directly (grey at hogbaysoftware.com) and I can create a  license for you. Sorry for the headache either way.
