Since updating to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I've been having trouble with QuickCursor — I haven't had time to troubleshoot systematically, but what seems to be happening is that I'll hit the QC keyboard shortcut in the Skype chat field, and it triggers the text editor (BBEdit) very slowly, maybe a minute later, by which time I've given up and moved on. Anyone else seeing anything similar?

In some cases, yes. It seems more prevalent with sandboxed apps under 10.8 but not exclusively (sandbox still seems to be called sometimes if I'm reading the console correctly).

Some behaviors I've seen:
* App Store and sandboxed apps like iA Writer and WriteRoom respond faster if they're already open
* A new MacVim install (snapshot 65) had the same problem you describe until I quit and relaunched QC, after which it's been behaving even after a reboot.

Yeah, I thought it might be a sandboxing thing. I mainly use QC with Skype, where I've had another strange glitch for a long time (typing the letter 'a' — with no modifier keys — switches to Finder and opens a certain folder — WTF?). The QC behavior is inconsistent, but most often it does switch to BBEdit and open a new document, but the document is untitled and isn't linked to Skype. Quitting and relaunching QC, Skype, and BBEdit doesn't seem to help. Come to think of it, I think I also updated Skype recently. Not seeing anything relevant in the console at all.

I'd gladly disable sandboxing altogether — in 20+ years as a Mac user I've never had a serious security issue, and so far sandboxing has been nothing but headaches. I *want* my apps to be able to interact!
