Is there a way to query the video card for memory usage from Pyglet?
The reason I ask is that I'm having an intermittent video performance
issue (bad scrolling in Firefox under certain circumstances), and I
know it has to do with my video. My laptop has an nVidia Go 7400 with
64M dedicated, and the ability to take up to 192M more from the
system. My suspicion is that things are fine on true VRAM, but when
it fills up and starts using system memory, problems appear.
So, I want to monitor how much memory is being used, to see whether
the performance degradation coincides with >64M memory usage. Can
Pyglet help me with this?

There's no cross-vendor API to get this information. nVidia has some diagnostic tools on their developer site that may help you, but the last time I checked they are only available for Windows.

Is the situation changed over the last few years?

I wrote some code for dhewm3 to do this once (query amount of memory
in general). It is NOT fun, there is no cross vendor way to do so.
There however, are methods to do so for nvidia and ati on their binary
drivers. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4552372/determining-available-video-memory discusses some of the available methods.

Is it at least possible to calculate the amount of video memory taken by all uploaded objects on pyglet side? Right now I am thinking about memory counter for all fonts glyphs loaded.
