There was some thought that we would need internet access at the space. here are the prices from various suppliers under the business category

Aliant Pricing Options for DSL access at up to 2.0 Mbps downstream and 640 Kbps upstream bandwidth

$39.95 /mo. for 12 months*	Promotional price for new customers
$58.95 / mo.	Regular in-market price

Not sure if someone else can answer this question but do we need to have a business account or can we put it in a persons name and have the organization pay them for the use of the service would aliant or rogers allow this?

as residential connections are about $35 a month which is quite cheaper. also we could try a wimax or wireless modem not sure how well it would work down town. Anyone familiar with this please chime in and offer any insight.

You also might want to look into what services are available for Non-profit business, they can differ significantly from regular business and personal internet access options. Also, think about datacaps on various services and whether they will be a factor (ie. how will the access at the space be used, any amount of data to be used?).

Just my $0.02 (should I round that up to $0.05 with the no-penny thing now?)

$40/month for 2mbps and that is only promotional? That seems like an insane price for such slow speeds.

We're much better off trying it as personal or see if they have a cheaper price for not for profit groups?

So I've called Rogers so far.
They'll give us a $10 discount for the first half of a two or three year contract which is basically $5 off overall.
No installation fee, Unl. Usage (won't they be sorry for that with a group like ours) and a speed of 4mbps.

I use Rogers business internet in my house, it's sooo much better than the horrid DSL I had with Aliant. They've got a strong variety of plans / speeds should our needs ever change too. The fast upload is a really nice plus.

The $10 discount is standard - I get it too (as a registered business entity). If you cancel early with Aliant they bill you the cost of your plan for however x months you have left to the end of the contract agreement, to a maximum of $400. So.. If you let x = 4 months, and your plan is $50/mo, you'd pay $200 to terminate. I think Rogers uses a similar concept, but if you call them up suggesting you want to cancel, they USUALLY give you some nice perks to get you to stay with them. I've done it a few times when I had residential service with them.
