Hello,

I am using the Stencil stand alone version 1.3.5. under Windows 7.

I have tried to import several collections that I downloaded from
either
http://pencil.evolus.vn/en-US/Downloads/Stencils.aspx
or
http://code.google.com/p/evoluspencil/downloads/list

I tried
ExtJs.GUI_v11.zip
ExtJs.GUI_v14.zip
famfamfam_flag_icons.zip

The behaviour and problem was the same for all three
1. Tools > Install new collection
2. Select zip file
3. Click on Open
4. Nothing happens. Nothing.

What's the fix?

Best wishes and thanks for your help

HI,

When you import new stencils it will be added to the collection, check the collection it may be in minimized state expand it by pressing + button. Or you can try Firefox add-on which i have am using in windows it works perfectly.

Hello Dhinesh,

Thank you for your advice, but the collections tab is of course the first place I checked and no collection has been added. And I would like to use the desktop app, not the Firefox add on.

Regards

Hi Frank,

I just migrated to Windows 7 and I have exactly the same issue but don't know why ...

I'll continue to investigate

To complete the subject, Importing private collection is working well.

I got the same problem.
May be a permission issue, or an API break in the Gecko zip service.

> What's the fix?
Extract the archives in "<PencilProfile>/Pencil/Stencils" directory.

For the standolone (xulrunner) version:
By example, on win7 by default: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Pencil\Profiles\{your-profile-name}\Pencil\Stencils

For the Firefox extension version:
By example, on win7 by default: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\{your-profile-name}\Pencil\Stencils

Each Stencil has its own a directory in this directory, with a "Definition.xml" file (and some other optional files).
By example :
- [...]\Pencil\Stencils\ExtJs.GUI_v11\Definition.xml
- [...]\Pencil\Stencils\ExtJs.GUI_v11\Icons\[...]

Maybe somebody should reopen the bug: http://code.google.com/p/evoluspencil/issues/detail?id=133&can=1&q=install%20stencil

Hello gcrico,

Thank you for your tip which let to the solution although it was not immediate.

Actually, there was no /Pencil/Stencils directory on the file path that you specified on my computer (under Windows 7). Actually, there was no sub-directory in the {your-profile-name} directory at all.

So I created the necessary folders manually (first the Pencil folder, then the Stencils folder, then for example an ExtJs.GUI_v14 folder) and then extracted the archive in the manually created folder. And that worked!

I hope this helps the developers in this forum to fix this bug.

Thanks to everybody for their contributions!

Hi guys,

thanks for the tip !!! I created the folder and unzipped collections
there. Now I can use the standalone version again :D

Hello,

could you verify that you've extracted collections in the folder

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Pencil\Profiles\{your-profile-name}\Pencil\Stencils

Hi Fred,

I checked the location where the files need to be saved. I missed the pencil folder inside  {your-profile-name} folder.
I have corrected the mistake and its working fine now..

Thanks for your inputs.
