Anyone interested in going in on the 10 reader group for $19 each?

WeakRef yes; I'll kick in $20 if you don't get a quorum, but I'll step
aside if someone else wants it more.

Ok, how about this: if you want in, sign up here: http://j.mp/rbxbMG
If you've already responded yes, then I added you to the sheet so no need to add yourself again.
I'll email Thoughtbot & see if they can do a user group deal or at least expand the 10 count at $20.

We have 13 people so far, and I'm waiting to hear back from Thoughbot on extending the offer to more than 10. Will keep you posted.

So they are only doing batches of 10 (lame if you ask me) and we're at 15.
So, we can either
  • wait for 5 more people then buy 2 group passes
  • buy 2 group passes now & fill in the other 5 later (not preferred)
Thoughts?

Hey Jesse,

There doesn't appear to be a benefit to buying more than one group at a time, so there's another choice: buy one group pass now, and have someone from the second group buy another when/if enough additional people indicate interest (which'll probably be soon, since we've only been talking about this since last night, and Igal's probably not up yet!)

(Also, it looks like you'll need our GitHub usernames.... might want to add that to the signup form. I'm "bryanstearns". Thanks for doing this!)

I'll be honest. I am more excited about SproutCore 2 than backbone.js. I see SproutCore 2 and backbone.js as competitors now where the previous version of SproutCore was competing with Cappuccino, but I must admit that backbone does look handy. I added my email to that form. It is a bit interesting to think that a book is being written about something that is 4.6kb.

I like Bryan's idea.
There are 16 people, so I can buy for the first 10. I added github usernames, but please check your's here: http://j.mp/pQjZgC

We've built an app with Backbone.js & Rails (and jQuery Mobile, etc.) and it's worked out well.  It's very nice and light weight, and was the right choice for us.  I think the choice of JS framework will heavily depend on the arch of your app in general, and SproutCore, or a future version at least will likely be great, as are some others (e.g. Knockout seems great for the right team structure and app architecture, etc.).  I'll be curious to see what the actual content of the book is and how helpful it is beyond the existing docs and so on out there, but I've put my name on the list for the book, so will know soon enough.
