Hi all,
I am trying to make OM work with my gmail account.
Based on the info here:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13287
I have configured my smtp as follows........

- smtp_server = smtp.gmail.com
- smtp_port = 587         (TRIED PORT 25 ALSO)
- system_mail_addr = my_e...@gmail.com
- email_username =  my_e...@gmail.com
- email_userpass = my_password
- mail.smtp.starttls.enable = 1 (true)
- sendEmailAtRegister = 0
- sendEmailWithVerficationCode = 1

I have also setup my POP3 as based on this info:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13273

Based on what you said here Sebastain:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/openmeetings-user/gmail$20config/openmeetings-user/UY_P0tQoWGI/C__H3FZ4s8gJ
i restarted the red5-service (and every time i make a change).

In fact i have gone as far as restarting everything, including my PC, but i still can't send out emails. I have tried with and without chat invite activated but still nothing.
I disactivated AVG antivirus just in case but that didn't change anything.

I have created a new user, but that doesn't appear in my contacts (email) list, and i know they didn't get the email. I have also tried sending to other accounts of my own, but nothing.

For a few hours i managed send emails to these accounts but they never arrived. They appeared in my SEND folder in OM, but their email address and the subject were missing. I get the impression that OM only stocked what it thought it had sent, and not actually send anything.

On 1 occasion only i managed to have a message arrive in my gmail account (POP3), but can't for the life of me remember if i had sent it directly or if it was a copy(save) of the email i sent to another account (which didn't arrive). So now i can't even reproduce the effect.

My OM email system is now no longer saving to the SEND (shouldn't that be 'SENT' ?) folder.

I don't know if i missed anything here or on the initial install that could have been important, i have gone over these messages here, but find my myself going round in circles doing the same thing just to make sure i have correctly changed everything and that i have restarted services again.

Can anyone see what i have missed or done wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Its working! Well almost anyway.

To setup OM i created a new gmail account just for the occasion, and this is what i have been using from the beginning.

Emails are getting sent, but i can't say why its working now.

If i send an email i noticed that it went directly to the spam box, strange as ive only had this account as long as iv'e been setting up OM.

If i use the calendar function then the email is not sent to the spambox

The following could be because i am using a second PC and email account here on the same LAN (could it be configured to work though)
When trying to accept invite or join a room the second PC says it has network issues and can't connect, and from there when i joined a room from the link which i recieved within the email from the second account it connected me as the second account.

I will keep looking, but if i can't find a solution would you be prepared to accpet an invite and join a room to see if its working ( i don't think it likes my local setup for more than one connection)

In gmail there is this nice little feature *show original* (or sht
like that, don't know exact translation) ... the feature is hidden
when you use the drop down arrow on the right-top of each email.

If you see the original email you can see the (cryptic) messages that
that email server produces to validate an email, sometimes you can
read the reason why its a spam email too.

Hi Sebastian,
I was in the group when you posted yesterday, thanks, so i went to check gmail.
When looking at the the original message i could see the info but nothing that gave any insite into the spam mail, and continued looking.
Eventually it was to late to reply, you were surely asleep at 2 o'clock in the morning.

After playing around for a while i am now at a point where:

I can send emails as long as there is a meeting attached to it.
I can create a meeting within the calendar which sends an email

What i still can't understand or get to work is:

Send a straight email without meeting attached, it either goes to spam or not at all.
I can't store or see any trace of the emails or invites sent within OM (i know they were sent and recieved)
I can't recieve any replies within OM, although i can see the replies in the gmail account

I have tried for hours this weekend and am now lost. I  have gone over the config for OM and gmail many times and i know they are  communicating (one way).

Have you got any suggestions, where should i look and try?
What can i post here to check?

where do you send those invitations?
Out of the calendar?
Out of the private message center?
Out of a conference room?

All 3 ways might be possible. But sending from the private message
center is not officially supported by status of today (at least from
my side).

Sebastian,
I have tried from 2 of the 3 places.

From the calendar, the messgaes are sent and eventually added to googles agenda. (good)

From the private message center, some have been sent but as spam, and most of the time they don't get sent. (can live with that)

From a conference room, i haven't tried and to be honest i didn't know it could be done. (I will try, it sound cool).

The only real problem thats left is that when the invite is sent and the client clicks the link to join, i recieve the accept/reply in my gmail account but nothing is updated or forwarded to OM. I can't see the new user/client anywhere.

cheers
Dayne
