OCRopus 0.5.4 is small release with a number of bug fixes.  It should compile on 32 bit machines and run on single processor machines.

The biggest new addition is a line segmenter that does not require native code.  The plan for 0.6 is to eliminate all SWIG-based libraries to ease installation.

Tom,
downloading ocropus 0.5.4 using " hg clone https://code.google.com/p/ocropus/" in terminal. It is presumed that the following
commands (as for version 0.5) have to be used in terminal.
cd ocorpus,
ocroinst packaages,
ocroinst install
ocroinst dl
With warmest Regards,

Tom.
Congratulations!. successfully installed without any problem.
Successfully tested with alice.png(files not attached) then also tested using brh2.png (which is Kannada) - vide attached files.
In this context, png files in 0001-kannada.tar.gz displayed image in Kannada  correctly. Only output  like book.html  does not display in kannada script but in Egnlish script  - translation failed due  to absence of encoding UT-8 set in the relevant codes.
Awaiting further guidance.
With Warmest Regards,
