Thought I'd share a little piece of personal nixie history with you folks...here's a picture of my very first nixie tube clock, a commemorative nixie tube clock kit from Jeff Thomas, way back in the year 2000!!...tubes are still going strong after pretty much continuous use for 12 years..I just had a new case top fabricated for the stepped base I'd made...looks lovely.

Needless to say I've spent a bloody fortune on these nixie things since then...;-)

Cheers,

Nick

I don't think he does, or he'd have used bat nixies.

Do you know what kind of transformer that is? I assume it's part of the flyback nixie power supply. I'm wondering if it's an ordinary 8:1000 speaker matching transformer, or something exotic or custom.

Is it possible that you are piggy-backing somebody else's wi-fi, Nick? Sounds like you might be on the Upside-Down-Ternet...

I run my own encrypted network at home, so that's not the issue....;-) That's a funny link though! Thanks for sharing..

:) I always wanted to try it sometime.. Just never got around to it.
Oh, and also I'm not really willing to accept the legal exposure associated with unsecured wifi just for a few laughs.. but definitely a funny idea. :)

Jeff would be the best person to answer that one...it's been a while since I've read the schematic and instructions...
