My report with nikon D300s (it is not in the list) tested on a Win7 64 bits, all app. settings unchanged, V0.7.157 (test):

Things OK:
==========
-Detected ok with battery level.
-Changing iso, speed, file format, aperture, compensation...
-Release button focus and then takes the picture.
-Pictures show ok on strip and magnified.
-TimeLapse worked ok (but... see below).

Not working OK:
===============
-Mode: It always start on "P" mode! It doesn't read it fom camera on start up, nor did it remember my last choice (using just the default profile). Only workaround is to let it start on "P" and then change to "M" on camera, then app detects it and updates ok.

-Braketing: When pressed on "Take Photo", it changed compensation to -1, focused, fired, previewed a low-res of the first shoot, showed "downloading photo"... freeze. Tested 3 times, same results. Also tested with native driver off with no luck.

Note: I thought changing it to "M" mode by my self on camera could be the cause, so tried with proposed "P" mode, and it showed first shoot in hi-res, but then freezed again.

-LiveView button was enabled but didn't work, camera lcd blinked 2 or 3 times, then nothing. I wasn't unable to activate it on camera while connected via usb, even with the program off, so maybe it is driver related.

-Focus mode (M/S/C) disabled, can't be changed (it is ok, D300s has a dedicated phisical button for this).


Ideas:
======
-Release button, when no focus is acquiered, didn't show any warning. It would be nice!

-Time lapse start counting the seconds to next shoot just after previous shoot is fully downloaded to PC, this add some 13s or so of extra time on my camera and make time calculations higly inaccurated.

Hi, I read about 0.7.158 on dropbox and make the test:

-Braketing works ok after updated!!!

-LV button is now disabled.

-Now not only mode "P" is always set by default, also TIFF (may be it was the same before).

-Metering mode now opens blank (it readed ok on 0.7.157) but release button works.

I am now using NCC 0,7,158,0 (WinXP SP3 + .NET Framework 4).

NCC says again "Unable to connect to the camera. Please reconnect your camera!"

I don't know what is wrong with my setup. :-(

I tried being logged in as a normal user as well as an administrator.

I use the last version of your software with a D700 and WIN 7 on my comptuter.

I have 2 problems :
The live view dont work
and when you take a picture, in your view it's always in landscape. Is it possible to have a view with te good orientation when i shot in portrait ?
On my D700, this option is ON.

HI, nothing useful in log file, in main windows there is a option "SDRam" you can unchecked it and try again. If you got something relevant when the crash, you can do a screenshot too.

When you try to capture photo, do you hear if the camera stop the live view and try to capture a photo or just the application crash ?

Hi, this was a really good bug report :)

There was an error when read live view, this may cause the application to freeze, hope this was the problem.

I realized that was a problem Framework. Updates were not performed.
I solved this little problem and have reinstalled NCCsetup_0.7.195.exe.
still the same problem.

Hi, I use a D40 and after first shot, programm throw an erro and is it not possible to take another shot. The Camera change mode from MTP/FTP to Mass Storage. Camera mode are "M" and RAW.

I tested with and without my grip ... with live view, the camera does not take the photo

i try now with my tower and XP ...

Use configuration button there in a another button "Locate log", this should help...

A another thing, something changed in the last log file, i got error code:

ERROR_GEN_FAILURE 0x8007001F

May be used to indicate that the device has stopped responding (hung) or a general failure has occurred on the device. The device may need to be manually reset.

and i found a another bug :(, when you turn off the camera and on the second time connection isn't possible without restarting the application.

Yes i know. it's that i do.

when your software bug, the only solution for close the box live view it's to shut down the camera or i have an error and it's win 7 cose your software.
with or without SDRAM on, it's the same thing.
if you prefere this action find the report :

I forgot to ask, if in main window you can capture photos using or not the sdram options, or using time lapse with "Don't autofocus" option checked ..

I try to explain why i ask, i use two function to capture images one the simple, the another one with no autofocus temporally i disable autofocus take a photo and enable the autofocus, this function is used in live view and in timelapse when i try to shout without focusing, in live view first i stop the live view , take photo with no af (in this point the program freeze) and start the live view. 

So there something when i stop the live view, maybe just timing.... 

I will try to search in documentation maybe i find something useful.

Thx your time and patience, it is somehow hard to debug every  changes i make, i need to send you and wait for result (which unfortunately are same), but this is it i choice this way to not to use nikon SDK

Hello,

last version (0.8.280) has serious problems with Nikon D7000:

1) Live view button is not enabled at all

2) Capturing to SDRam is not working

Both these features were working in 0.7.232.

I have attached log of my three sessions:

- I have connected camera to computer and turned it on

- On the first session, I have just started NCC and then closed it

- On the second session, I have clicked on icon to take picture (with AF *). Camera took picture, but the picture was not transferred to the computer and camera froze showing just "PC" on the status display (normally there is exposure info, settings info etc.)

- I closed NCC and turned camera off and on again

- On the third session I have turned SDRam off and clicked to take picture (without AF *). Camera took picture and returned to a normal state.

*) It really does not matter whether I take pictures with or without AF; SDRam is what makes the difference, I tried it before I recorded the log

If you need more info, please let me know.

i don't think that problem is in ncc...DIY photobits.com is also having the same problem... has anyone had similar problem?

The problem come from wia driver, there is a bug in Microsoft driver on Vista and W7, i will try to make a native driver for it in next version to avoid this bug.
