Hello,

I have downloaded the latest version of NCC (0.7.209) to use it with my D90. I am using WIN7 64 bit premium.
Everyting works flawleslly except the Bracketing function (take one picture and then there is a message Device MTP error code 200F).
In liveview which is now working fine (was not the case with previous version i tried), i have several issues:
First one, when using manual focus, some times a popu window appear showing application error (HRESULT:0x80070490)
Second one, when i try to launch a capture (or a movie or focus stacking session) the APN is making a click (as if it is taking a picture), but nothing occurs (no picture downloaded, no preview..) and the same MTP erro code is generated in the main window.
Please find attached the log file.
Thanks for this great tool anywa!!
Regards

Joël

Hi,

thanks for your reactivity!!

The status of the 210 version for D90:
- Bracketing is now working (take and download pictures), but do not stop by itself after the number of exposure selected (you have to stop it manually, otherwise it continues indefinetely)
- Liveview still working, but autofocus and manual focus is working eratically (i have been required to unplug/replug the d90 several time and stop/restart ncc to have it working)
- capture in liveview now works also, but still a bit buggy (handling of the lifeview once the picture is taken is not ok), but it is working almost ok
- focus stacking is almost working too, but same as for capture!
- once the focus stack has been done, almost impossible to redo autofocus in live view (need a stop/restart of ncc at least, one type i have been obliged to remove battery from the D90 to get it back working (was blocked in PC mode, even with on/off :-(  ).

May be a "request" : is it possible to define the step of focusing (in a config box for small/medium/large manual focus) Currently it is 10/100/500, but it could be interesting to define it larger or smaller for some apps....

Here is the log file...
Many thanks
Joël

Hi, i add in settings options for focus steps. I made some improvements on live view focusing specially on focus staking, and try again the bracketing too.

Hi Istvan

You made a really great job man!! It is working almost  flawlessly. bracketing is fine, shooting control too, preview and focus work really great now. Perhaps some little bug when wanting to do "automated" focus stacking (not the right number of picture taken, or sometimes focusing not done between two pictures). I will try to post a clean log file tomorrow...
Anyway this piece of software can be a great alternative to Nikon software or NKremote...keep the good way!!

Many many thanks!!

HEllo Istvan

i have discovered today the version 1.0.0 of Digicamcontrol and explored the features. All what i have tested is working flawlessly with my D90 !!
Nice job
As an astronom amateur i also discovered (a good surprise)  a menu (not documented) concerning phd guiding, i have been able to connect to phd with success.
and i have seen all the option you added (dithering + pause, resume, etc) which is a very good idea.
May be a step forward would be implement a "new menu" or an option in the time lapse to be able to take a shot (specify the time of the shot), then dither, then take new shot, etc as is doing DSLR shutter coupled with Dithermaster.
Also a nice idea would be , instead of a time lapse, something more "flexible", for example a "script file", where you specify, dithering on/off number of shots, shot duration, and again number of shot, shot duration ( so taht you can make exposures with different times with an automated manner)
Also, even if the bulb mode is unsupported on many nikon camera..-( , it is possible to set the nikon manually in bulb mode (is it really impossible to do it using software, or do you intentionnaly block the feature ?) and then trigger the photo either using a IR remote or a wire remote or the shooting button. The nice thing is that, when doing so and specifying in the transfer option, save to PC, when the shutter is released back, the photo is automaticcaly downloaded to the PC, so, in a sense you can do bulb exposure with the nikon camera and download the photo to the PC without any problems
A nice idea then would be to add the possibility to trigger the shutter using for example DSUSB (shoestring astronomy) or using rs232 port  with a USB to serial adapter (as seen here : http://www.beskeen.com/projects/dslr_serial/dslr_serial.shtml ).All  these options would turn digicamcontrol in a "full featured" astronomy oriented control software for nikon users (that would be the first one!!)
I know that it can be some works to implement all these ideas, but i am available to help for testing if you need it, since i have all the required hardware to do so (a nikon, phd guiding, a mount with a telescope, a wire remote triggered by a usb to serial adapter as described in the beskeen website), and even if the sky is not always clear here running in simulation mode with phd and my mount is doable!!

Best Regards
Joël

Hi, i plane to add in next version more features for astro photography, like external shutter release (serial cable) and other devices like you say DSUSB (for it i need some description, how to use the library, i try to contact the author but no luck. )
The phd guiding it is experimental even i don't know if is working...

I say you should start a forum thread (http://digicamcontrol.com/forums/feature-requests) about astro feature to involve more user in discussion.

I'm a lite bit busy in this week, but next week i will contact you for discuss this features.

Regards
Duka Istvan
