In the Outlook Sync Options dialog box, when I check the box and then pull down the menu for "Remove tasks from Outlook not visible in MLO To-Do view", views that I have created and saved are not showing up.

In fact, many of the pre-set views that standard in MLO are not showing up on that pull down menu.

Is this normal?

If so, then how is a user supposed to handle it when he wants to sync only tasks with a certain context?

I am not sure whether I understood the whole problem. But indeed I am using this feature every day. I created a view with advanced options which shows exactly the tasks I want to see in outlook. I gave it a name, could select it in your menu "MLO To-Do view" and everything works fine. In the advanced options you can also select whether the tasks shall have a certain context. Hope this can help you...

Udo

Hi, Udo...

Thanks for your reply.  I am using MLO 4 and I have attached a screenshot that shows what is happening; hopefully this will explain it clearly.  On the left side of the screen you will the views that have been set up, including two that I have drawn a red box around.  In the middle of the screen you will see the pull-down menu from the Outlook Sync tab showing the list of views available.  The two views in the red box are *not* listed.  Is this the way it is supposed to be?

Hi Robert,

I have attached a screenshot as it looks like in my system. But I have an idea why your view is not shown. As I can see you have an outline-view made for outlook! I think it has to be a plan to-do list! Hierarchie makes no sense i outlook and so I think it is not possible, but never tried it. Anyway my to-do list works fine and so it should work for you too.
Regards,
Udo

I'm not sure I understand the difference between an outline-view and a plan to-do list.  I created the view called "Outlook" by simply right-clicking on the views and choosing "New View" from the pull down menu.  I originally created the "Outlook" view in the "My Views" section and then dragged it up to the "Outline" views section when it didn't appear in the sync pull down list.

No view I create appears in the Outlook sync pull down list.   Thank you for confirming that something is wrong with how MLO is working for me.

Sorry for a mistake: I meant a plain todo-list (not plan) ...
OK but here is the problem: I just tested it on my system. I copied my existing view "outlook" and changed it to 2 different filter views. Using the filter as shown in attached file MLO 3:
1. outlook hierarchy = view is not shown in the selection pull down menu (your problem)
2. outlook hierarchie no = the same view (just before not shown) copied again and switched back to plain list AND IT APPEARED in the pull down menu :-)
See the difference in the attached file MLO 2
So just change the filter of the view to "...plain list" and it should work. The view itself can remain in the outline folder. I tested this too. This view just appeared not at the end of the pull down menu but nearly on top, perhaps this is just the top down sequence).

Hope this helps - but now I am sure. Please aks again if anything ist not clear - good luck!

Regards,
Udo

Udo,

I changed the filter in a view I had created to "Show as plain list", as you suggested, and it is now appearing in the Outlook sync pull down menu.  I think you have solved my problem!  Thanks!
