It's possible to use wireless sync provided by the MLO desktop application. But you cannot sync the entire file because they are different formats.

I've set it up to sync on our PC's but can't find the option for configuring the settings on our phones......

Thank you Lisa,
So we need to be on the same wifi network to sync ?
The ftp sync file is different than the one that the MLO cloud uses ?

I really don't know what you mean by FTP sync. I'm probably not the right person to ask, because I use cloud sync only. You do not need to be on the same Wi-Fi network for cloud sync.

What I was trying to say is that an MLO does not support syncing of the entire datafile as a whole across different platforms. It only supports syncing through MLO mechanisms.

When setting up Synchronization options on the desktop version you can choose MLO Cloud or FTP, USB, LAN or remote data file, it's just that the cloud sync requires you to pay for access to the MLO Cloud ftp server ?
Just seems strange to not have these options in the Android version or to have different data formats between PC and Android.....

Interesting, I didn't even realize that was in MLO. Sorry, I don't know what it does.  I thought you were talking about something else.

Rab,

FTP sync such as you describe, where you put a copy of the Windows data file on an FTP site of your choosing, (I have done this in the past), will not work with Android.  The data file formats are different.  This is the same situation as the Pocket PC version, which uses a different file format than the MLO Windows application.  People asked for the apps to use the same format, but it was not possible at the time.  This does work for syncing two desktop machines running MLO however.

Wifi sync allows you to sync your android file with your local pc Desktop file via a wifi network.  Both devices have to be on the same wifi network, such as your home network.

MLO Cloud is the solution that will allow your Android device to share data with your Desktop file. The IOS version can use this solution also, and so you can now share data with your phone, your Ipad, your desktop etc.  It certainly gives people some choices.

From a timeline perspective, first came FTP sync, then WiFi sync, and shortly after, MLO Cloud, so part of this is MLO's continued development, as well as Andrey's desire to help meet people's syncing needs.

Hope that helps.

Phil.

Phil's reply regarding FTP sync is pretty thorough and I agree, but I just want to add one point. Using "FTP Sync" to propagate a desktop MLO profile from one system to another is really a copy, not a sync. If you have two desktops with MLO, each with a local profile file with identical contents, and you add task A on one and task B on the other and then sync, there is no way using FTP sync to create a single profile containing both tasks A and B. The best you can do is to make the two identical again, with either task A or task B but not both. With the old USB sync as well as the current wifi and cloud sync, there's a record-by-record reconciliation that results in task A and task B present in all synched platforms.

Thanks for pointing that out Dwight...I totally overlooked that.
