I have a parent task recurring every week on Monday with two child tasks. In Recurrence->Advanced Options, I have "Reset all subtasks to uncompleted, if all subtasks are completed" (3rd option) and "Automatically recur when all subtasks are complete" (3rd option)

Now when the child tasks are marked complete, a completed parent task appears but it does not have the completed child tasks. I know I have selected the reset option but is there a way to preserve that history so that later I can see when the child tasks were completed ?

I don't see any obvious way, unfortunately.  The option of whether or not to create a copy of a task seems to only be attached to the task with the recurrence.

You could probably work with "alternative complete" for the child tasks. That would give you at least completed copies of your child tasks as a kind of "timestamp".

On the other hand you would then have to switch off "Reset all subtasks to uncompleted".

I know, it's not at all a smart solution ...

Lisa is most probably right ... no obvious solution available.

Hi, Stochastic. Some time ago (not sure how long) I read a discussion
in one of these forums about whether or not there recurrence of a
repeating tasks with subtasks should create completed copies of the
subtasks. The definitive answer was no - I forget why but I'm pretty
sure it had to do with some sort of resource getting overused. So the
point is, this is happening by design, it's not that you made any
setup errors.

If you really want to have the completed subtasks, I have a
suggestion. It's awkward and I wouldn't do it but it's the best I can
think of. The suggestion is to set up a template of your Monday task
with its subtasks and then once per year (or maybe once per quarter)
spend a few minutes creating a Monday task for each upcoming week from
the template. No recurring tasks involved, just lots of Monday tasks
for different weeks, each with the subtasks defined in the template. I
would create an annual repeating maybe in mid-November to create the
next year's Monday tasks.
