Hi, Andrew.
I'm sorry that I don't the answers to either of your questions. But, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a little about dropbox.

If I understand correctly, if you make an update to your tasks on one computer and you make a different update to your tasks on the other computer, one of you're updates will be lost unless you synched both computers to dropbox between the two updates. Whereas if you had used either off three two built-on synch methods that come with MLO (wifi or cloud) both changes would be preserved.

Is this correct? If so, why would you prefer dropbox?
Thanks,
-Dwight

Dear friends,

1)  I am going to use 2 profiles at the same time. The goal is to copy the delegated tasks from my own profile to the profile of my worker.
Is MLO working flawlessly with multiple profiles which are opened at the same time? Does anybody tested this? Thanks a lot!

2) Can i install MLO on 2 different computers using the same license?
The pc will be on the same network. The profiles will be synced using dropbox. Thank you!

Best regards,
Andrew

Regarding multiple profiles:
I tested the MLO with 2 profiles. It seems to work well.

The question regarding the sharing license between 2 computers is still open.

Hello Alexadra.
I followed the link. It says:
"You may install MyLifeOrganized on up to five computers, as long as only one person uses the software. This way, you may install it at home and in the office for your personal use. Additional licenses are necessary only if more than one person is using the program."
So:
I will install MLO on 3 computers - that seems to be ok
I will use it for my personal purposes. - this is also ok
But, regarding "as long as only one person uses the software" please help me to understand, will the following scenario work:

I intend to install MLO on:
1) my PC
I will have about 7-10 profiles on it. Each one corresponds to an important part of my life. For ex: a profile for Home; a profile for tasks relating to my kids; a profile for Work and so on. I think i will have about 10 profiles.
2) the notebook of my wife
I will create one profile which will be synced to a shared MLO data file from my PC.
Both computers (notebook and my PC) are in the same network (almost on the same desk :)
3) the notebook which i plan to buy for traveling
It will double all the profiles from my PC.

Can i use one license for this purposes?

Thank you !

Hi
if you are the one who is going to use all of those profiles - it is ok. Additional license is required for new user only.

I suspect you will have all kinds of trouble with  it. First of all, Dropbox only changes the entire file. So if your wife wants to add a task, and you are traveling, and you add a task, you are going to get an error and there will be no way of resolving what tasks have been added to both sides. Cloud sync would be much more reliable, and you could both use the same account. Then sync would be on a task-by-task basis. Dropbox is really only useful (in my understanding) when only one person is using the file, and never through two computers at the same time. In fact, even if it were just you, and you left MLO running at home, and then you traveled, you might have problems, because not all tasks are insular - they effect one another. A task might recur automatically, etc (though I have not used dropbox with MLO).

Also, by profile, do you mean "data file"?  I think you may be frustrated trying to keep so many files open. I keep my "life areas" as different parts of one tree, and I know that thinking about one area often has me entering tasks into a different areas.  Why would you keep Home and Kids in separate profiles?  If you keep them all in one file you can easily zoom to one branch and only see the tasks from that branch until you zoom out.

Lisa

And because 1 installation is on spouse's laptop, unless you consider her to be your property I suspect you need another license.

@Lisa S
Thank you for the message.
Regardind dropox. Yep, i have used dropbox only for myself till now. And it is not so good as the build-in syncronization functions of MLO.
I won't use dropbox, instead I will use the syncing of the remote data file with the local one (using MLO native sync). Then, later, i will review the possibility of buying the subscription to MLO cloud.
As to "multiple data files". I tried to use a big data file with many branched, like: Home, Work and so on. And also i used the focusing feature of MLO.
After spending some time, i came to a conclusion that splitting it to smaller files is better for me. I will give it a try and then i will say my opinion.
Maybe splitting is not so good as i think.
As to "Why would you keep Home and Kids in separate profiles?". Kids will contain task related to: "games for kids, kids education, books for kids, and many other related things". Home will contain "buying a new flat, furniture, changes to design, repairing and so on". The Kids branch will be reviewed and changed daily. Home branch will be reviewed 1-2 times per week. Kids profile is more spiritual, closer to my soule. Home profile is something about material needs, something which i must do as a father and husband, but it's not always what my soul wants. So keeping them separatly is a solution for me, at this moment.
Dear Lisa, i am not sure right now, maybe i will merge the data files back. I have to try firstly.

@DJM

And because 1 installation is on spouse's laptop, unless you consider her to be your property I suspect you need another license.
Let's say that I manage a large project. Almost all the tasks i complete by myself or by my workers. They don't need MLO since i distribute the tasks on meetings or by phone. From time to time i need the help of my wife to complete some tasks which aren't urgent but i don't have enough time for them. In this case, i will sync a branch from my datafile with the MLO installed on my wife's notebook.
There won't be many tasks, about 10-30. She is not familiar with MLO and won't use it for her needs. She just will help me to complete the tasks from my profile (the taks will be created and sorted, grouped etc etc by myself). So, why should i buy a new license only for this?
I agree if she will decide to use MLO for her projects or will organize her life using MLO, no problem, we can discuss the buying of a new license.
Maybe somewhere i am wrong, if so, let me know. Thanks a lot.

Here's an unofficial comment on the license that neither Andrey or Alexandra are going to give because its not strictly according to Hoyle. Start your wife with your MLO license, when she discovers how great it is she should buy her own copy. Its like an addictive drug, sometimes it just takes time to take hold.

This unofficial comment has no official weight, but it makes sense even for Andrey (another user eventually).

Hope she will really like it. For myself MLO is a reall productivity enhancer (but it takes too much time to study and to settle according to the the personal specific needs).

I actually have a similar need for a solution in our family. My teen son has no interest in completing tasks, not to mention using MLO, and my husband doesn't have a home system and doesn't want one, but there are times when I want to export a set of tasks to them.

I know this is not what you are looking for, but I've been using a program called OurGroceries on both desktop (web) and Android. It only supports basic lists and "recipes" (templates) but it allows me to paste in a list of tasks on the desktop; it instantaneously (for the most part) syncs with the server, so if I add a grocery item on my phone, it shows up on my husband's phone when he is already at the grocery store .  Since I was already using it for groceries, for 10-20 tasks it is easier to make a list for my son or husband in this program than to worry about setting up MLO and getting them to use it. (And because there is no branch cloud sync).  But, perhaps for some things (my son's overnight packing list, for example)  I'll try syncing tasks to the Android app with wifi sync to a separate file just to see how it works...in my spare time ... :)
