Hello,

MLO refreshes the todo list (i.e. checks if there's tasks whose start time just started and then displays them) every time you press F5, or F9, or add a new task, or possibly other actions.

This is a bit annoying, because then I am sometimes looking at MLO and I can't be 100% sure that I'm seeing an up-to-date view of my tasks.

My suggestion: It's quite feasible to achieve a perfect up-to-date view of tasks, without a periodic refresh. It's simple, just do what the `cron` command on Linux does. Have MLO look at all upcoming tasks, figure out when the closest one is, and then schedule a refresh for precisely that time. This achieves perfect refreshing with a minimum of resource usage.

Would you be interested in implementing this feature?

Thanks,
Ram.

I would certainly vote for a dynamic refresh of the ToDo view.

i'm not sure i am understanding.

my todo list refreshes each time i add a task and each time a task hits its start time, what tasks could i possibly be missing?  I'm not trying to be argumentative i truly cannot understand how i could be missing a task..

Add a task with a start time of 1 minute from now. It will not show in todo, right? Now sit in front of your computer for 2 minutes, without touching the keyboard. Does the task show up after 1 minute?

ok understand now.  i agree nothing at all happens until i do something.  switch from to do to outline, switch from one context to another, anything at all like that will refresh the view.  but you are correct if i just sit there and do not touch anything nothing will happen

I am just trying to understand the use case here. Normally I look at the list, which means it would get refreshed automatically at that point, pick a task and do it. So at this point I am working on another app or a task not on the PC. Once done I come back to MLO which means it is current again at this point and I pick something else. I don't quite see the purpose of real-time updates unless you have a lot of 1-5 minute tasks every few minutes. Is that the case ?

One solution which I use at times is to include tasks which are due to start in the next hour/day/2 days so I know what's coming up.

"Normally I look at the list, which means it would get refreshed automatically."

My experience is that it does not get refreshed automatically. If you do stuff like add tasks, it gets refreshed, but not if you just look at it.
