The heather canyon is one gigantic icy mass right now but Mr. Sunshine will do its magic and turn that ice into sumptuous corn.
Applying a thermodynamic formula, I estimated the time required to turn icy heather canyon into oh-so-forgiving-corn snow;

Time required = I * e * COS (30degrees) * Log(s)^0.59 / h * p * L

Where I = intensity of sun’s energy = 1000 watt per square meter

Slope of heather canyon = 30 degrees

Density of ice (p) = ~90% of water = 0.9 g/cm3

S = varying wind speed

Etc. etc….

Plug in all the variables and shake them all up …and WALA:

Massive Corns will appear in Heather approximately 11 am to 1 pm on FRIDAY!
ps, yeah, I know, I need to get a new hobby!

Here is our own midweek coordinator Kenny getting some pow-action last Friday:

This coming Friday may not bring powder, but corn-skiing can be just as fun!

For those who are not going to be on a bus on the way to Idaho, that is!  We are hoping for some GREAT snow at the three areas we will be skiing - since there's no new, hopefully we'll find corn as well.

Well, Linda, if you can't find corn, bring me some spuds, will you?  :-)

Haha, touchy!

I don’t think neither of us will be skiing mucky spuds any time soon...it’s still winter and low-angle sun just don’t have the same intensity as it does during spring time.

I hope you have a great time in Idaho ...and the same goes to those who are headed to W/B!

I am just gonna have to settle for Meadozzz for now.

The forecast for Idaho is all sunny days, just like here.  Except that the temperature in McCall will consistently be slightly below freezing, with highs around 26 or 28ºF.  There is no inversion there.  The temperatures on the mountain are probably a bit cooler than in town, but in the same range.  Sorry, no balmy beach weather in Idaho! But, the cold temps probably mean good, dry snow!

Ah, yes, that best snow in Idaho is at Brundage Mt.
And that will be followed by the best snow in Oregon, which is at Anthony Lakes (because of the high elevation).

Oh my gosh, you guys.  I just found out Glen Plake will be at Meadows on Friday!  If I knew ahead of time I could have asked for the day off work, but I just saw it on the Meadows website.  I could call in sick but I need my job...sigh
I don''t know who is going up tomorrow (George?) but definitely keep an eye out for that crazy mohawk!  Maybe you can get him to hang out w/some Mtn Highers after skiing?  Post here if you do!

Who is Glen Plake?

Now if Julia Mancuso is teaching beginner class on buttercup, I will be the first in line with my Ladyhart skis!

Oh dude, you must be joking if you don't know who Glen Plake is!  Google him.
I would love to talk to him...would be amazing to ski a run with him.  He is lucky to be alive after barely escaping that avalanche in Nepal last year.  I hope you get to meet him and take a pic or two!  -Sandra
