Hi,

I'm new to Missoula, am a fan of linux, and would like to renew the Missoula linux users group if possible, since it looks like it hasn't been active for some time. Are there others interested in also renewing the group?

I'm glad to see all the interest! So are all of you previous members? Is there some leadership/organization we could resurrect? Or do we just want to wing it?

RBW, we'll be glad to have you, whenever you can make it. no pressure.

Thaaaat was kinda part of the problem, noone taking
ownership/leadership of the group....and I could go intot hat more but
I won't.

I still have management access to the MLUG list...idk if I have the
owner bit or not. We set it to force review of new subscribers due to
the bouts of SPAM, and I assume I can add other list managers if
there's ever a need.

Feel free to cross post it on Montana Programmers. I imagine there are quite a few folks who would be interested. http://www.meetup.com/Montana-Programmers

Perhaps just start one meetup at a time rather than trying to bite off the whole organizational configuration of group management and responsibility would be helpful. Just get together. Montana Programmers has access to Ruby's if you give me a couple weeks notice I can reserve a room for you under the Montana Programmers group. I think Nick is a co-organizer too so he can post and approve the meetups. If not let me know, we can get you guys access to the group.

Best,

Nathan Stephens

You do, you're the only owner though. I think there was/is one other
manager but I might be the only one active.

Yeah, and I've had issues where it spits up errors for hours on end
for no apparent reason w/o Google reporting any issues/outages.
Pending messages are found by clicking on the "gear icon" and going to
Manage Messages at the bottom (very poor UI design) -- my biggest
problem with Google's recent UI redesigns is that they don't even try
to pick one methodology....we've got tabs, folders, and buttons, all
crammed into the same interface. Something that logically feels like
a folder (pending messages), or should be in the "Manage" button, is
off in the "settings" gear icon, the least likely place someone would
be to look.

Adding/removing owners and managers is found by going to Manage, then
on the left to Roles. Then you can manage the lists of users for each
role from within there, that one is at least halfway intuitive. But
only half.
