Subject: ACTION Required: Brand, Product Names and Localization - Input
needed
To:
world...@mozilla.org
Hello Localizers,
This discussion is back on again after it went on hiatus. We had a new
round of talk with branding team. Our immediate step is to gather your
input on your preferred "localized" names, brand and product names in your
particular market/language. We know they are not allowed in current
practice in the products and on the web. However, we know, people favor
the local expressions, not English, when communicating with people speaking
the same language, who may or may not be completely familiar with Mozilla
products.
We have put together a list of brand and product names together. I
highlighted a few in bold letters as our initial focus for this survey.

*Please review the spreadsheet, then do the following:*
- Make a copy of the template tab and rename the new sheet by locale code
- One collective feedback sheet per locale.
- Focus on "bold" letter entries first. These are P1 terms. Fill in the
cell only if you have the information. You are not obligated to provide
information for every term on the entire sheet.
- We are looking for the most popular, widely accepted localized terms
in the Mozilla community, and/or social media and the press. If you are
not
sure, discuss this within your l10n community.
- We are particularly interested in hearing issues if these terms are
left in English (as of now): readability, grammar, flow of text... list
them
*Deadline*: Respond by July 20th.
Write to me if you have additional questions or thoughts on the survey.
Thank you in advance!
