Hi, I would like to participate in Google Summer of Code in Metalink project, "Native Google Chrome support" subproject.
I'm a student at Dnipropetrovsk National University, Ukraine. I'll get my master degree in Applied Math in May this year. Also I have 2 year professional development in c++ and i have good knowledges in math and algorithms. I was a winner allukrainian students competition in math.
Also in last semester i finished Stanford online classes in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence with good score.
In period between 21 May and 24 August I can work for 40 hours per week.
How can I convince you that I am the right person?
Maybe I should make some test tasks or fix some bug?

at the bottom there is application template :) just submit it filled with your proposal.
Bug fixing or patches are definitely welcome by organizations, even if they don't say that ;) and some require it.
You need to hurry up, you have just 20h left

here is some reply for question about that project

just want to agree that bug fixing & patches are always welcome.

when a student shows initiative, that definitely doesn't hurt.
some are already working on projects or precursors to their proposals.

under Ideas: at http://www.metalinker.org/ideas.html

we have these starting points...

Open tickets with related projects: Aria2 bugs and feature requests,
MirrorBrain issues, DownThemAll! issues, MirrorManager issues.

I don't know what sth is but...

April 6:

19:00 UTC

Student application deadline.

Interim Period:

Mentoring organizations review and rank student proposals; where necessary, mentoring organizations may request further proposal detail from the student applicant.

April 20:

  1. All mentors must be signed up and all student proposals matched with a mentor - 07:00 UTC

  2. Student ranking/scoring deadline. Please do not add private comments with a nonzero score or mark students as ineligible (unless doing so as part of resolving duplicate accepted students) after this deadline - 17:00 UTC

  3. IRC meeting to resolve any outstanding duplicate accepted students - 19:00 UTC #gsoc

April 23:

19:00 UTC

Accepted student proposals announced on the Google Summer of Code 2012 site.

Community Bonding Period:

Students get to know mentors, read documentation, get up to speed to begin working on their projects.

By 'sth' I mean 'something' and it's mean just patch/code ;)
Today I'm going offline for Easter, but after 9.04 I will try to fix some bugs.

cheers
