I too have sen this but not in a Merlin server environment. I was just storing the file on a network drive for use in a stand alone copy of Merlin. I had same symptoms as Alex, file existed but was a blank (empty) project. I now store local files and have time machine backing them up and just archive to our network server when the project is complete.
What about a feature request to include auto back-ups.
to add, the project file was there but was blank. On Friday, 12 October 2012 17:28:04 UTC+1, AlexF wrote:

I work at our IT division.
The past few week we have had several users having the same problem. When they want to do a manually save, it wont. Then Merlin crashes and deletes the file that was open at that point. This happen both when working local or from servers. The save file is completely gone. One user had it happen twice within two days, she merged projects and when she, after working on it for several hours wanted to save it crashed. She now copy pasted instead of merging (but she still need to have the old files for reference). Is there a fix to this or atleast a "dont do this". We are loosing lots of hours on this.
kind regards
