Birders,

On Friday May 16th (with a rain date of the 17th) there will be a field
trip to Appledore Island (cost 95$). This trip is being organized by
Richard Bickford. Interested participants should contact Richard
directly (rdbic...@metrocast.net) to sign up.

Here are the trip details:

Appledore Island Trip
Located in the Isles of Shoals

FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2014
Rain Date: May 17th

Peak migration! Join Seacoast Audubon for a day of birding, hiking or
just plain relaxing in this historic and picturesque setting.
Participants, please bring your own lunch, a day pack with extra
clothing in case the weather changes, insect & tick repellent, sun
screen, water, camera, binoculars, bird book, bird checklist and
anything else that you may need for the day.

The boat ride over takes about an hour and some of you may want to take
something for motion sickness. There is also a gift shop on the island
and it should be open at some point during the day.

The dock is located across from the Sheraton at 315 Market Street,
Portsmouth, NH 03801

Trip Cost: $95

The $95 cost includes $80 per person fee for the Shoals Marine Lab and a
$15 per person fee that will benefit the Seacoast Chapter of ASNH

Parking:

High St. /Hanover Street, Portsmouth Parking Garage. Here’s their link:

Individual Participant Release Form (see All participants in Visiting
DAY group section): http://www.sml.cornell.edu/sml_publiced_userinfo.html

Cancelation policy: (most likely decided at the dock the morning of the
trip)

The SML captains are always safety-minded about the sea state and
comfort of their passengers, and if SML cancels the trip, there will be
no charges. However, if it’s simply raining/overcast, and you decide to
cancel the trip (if the captain deems safety to be fine) then there
would likely be a cancellation fee (I would guess within the range of
25% of the anticipated invoice total).

9am--DEPART PORTSMOUTH/SML DOCK (be there by 8:15)
Location: 315 Market Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801 (across from
Sheraton—same as in past)

The boat trip out may include a swing by Duck Island, weather permitting

We can utilize Kiggins Commons as a meeting/resting/dining area

(island population lunch time is 12:30pm-1:00pm)

A Shoals Marine staff member/tour guide could offer a brief
Sustainability Efforts tour and a brief island history tour they will
also determine which other buildings/labs that can be visited by our
group. Visit their website: http://www.sml.cornell.edu/index.html

Tour and hike the island at your leisure

The bird banding station will be in operation

3:30--DEPART from Shoals Marine Lab/APPLEDORE ISLAND
