Goldendict - the best Lojban dictionary software

Now there is full dictionary of Lojban based on Lojban Wikipedia and
jbovlaste.

There is a program called GoldenDict [http://goldendict.org/forum,
also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GoldenDict]

It's free dictionary software to say in short.

There are currently several dictionaries exported from jbovlaste.
Also there are three dictionaries "rupnu", "gugde", "bangu" converted
from
lists proposed by Jorge Llambias and Leo Molas

INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS operating system.
1. Download this file

2. unpack it (using 7-zip, look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7-zip
for more info)
3. Run GoldenDictPortable.exe file. Goldendict will index the
dictionaries (it will happen only once).
4. Goldendict window will appear.
Type in any English word or jbovla. You can type part of the word,
e.g. "ban" and determine which glivla and jbovla have that sequence at
the beginning.
GoldenDict searches in Lojban Wikipedia and Wiktionary by default. By
you can turn off those by pressing corresponfding icons in the
toolbar.

LANGUAGE OF INTERFACE
It's set to English by default. But can be changed to Chinese, Arabic,
German, Russian in settings (hit F4). Have time to translate to
Lojban ? I'll tell how (if somebody asks).

INSTALLATION FOR Mac, Linux and Nokia Symbian OS.
Look at http://goldendict.org/forum
You can find latest builds for Mac and Linux there. Not sure about
Nokia smartphones but as the program is written in Qt and is open-
source the solution can be found.

Did you store the dictionaries somewhere else? Rapidshare insists that I buy one of their packages as they have no free slot left for non-paying users.

Just the dictionaries would be fine, I downloaded the program from their website.

Okay, something is wrong with my interwebs. I can't connect to thepiratebay, or any others, for that matter. Is anybody interested in Chinese-Lojban, Spanish-Lojban dictionaries ?
Currently they can be build semi-automatically using EmEditor macro
script.

As EmEditor is payware and the process is not automatic this solution
is obviously not optimal.

If anybody can create a script for converting TeX database into DSL
format please inform.

New version of GoldenDict can now render wikipedia articles. It would be nice to have offline lojbanic wikipedia at hand.

But in order to do that we need to pack it into a special format called aard.

Can anyone kindly do the trick for us ?

Not dict files themselves. They claim anyone can create their own dict
file using
wikipedia xml dump and then converting it to aard format using scripts
attached to the page I gave you.
And such copy of wikipedia will work offline.

Do you mean that those scripts are gone ?
Existing dictionaries are of no interest for us. Lojbanic Wikipedia is
not in the list. You could download English Wikipedia, though.

You must assemble them yourself. Just open  http://dumps.wikimedia.org/backup-index.html, search for the latest jbowiki dump.

Download it and follow the instructions given.

Yeah, that's a lot of Linux crap that barely means anything to me. I'm on a PHONE, and thus cannot do those steps even if I knew how. For those of us who are not on Linux, could somebody please just post the file I need?

This is precisely why I said the person who originally put the files on megaupload should repost them somewhere else.

I've sent a message to this group from my DropBox account that should allow anyone on the list to upload ditionaries- and unlike MegaUpload, DropBox is not in any danger of being perma-banned from the internet.
