Trying to search for mikri with valsi today in #lojban yielded some
interesting, albeit perhaps already known errors in jbovlaste.
It turns out that jbovlaste has some major issues in the way it
handles links and TeX and exponentials. In fact, jbovlaste thinks that
the -6 in [$10^{-6}$] is a link.
It seems like valsi doesn't quite have this problem, which means that
donri knows what ey's doing :) Searching for "1E-6" *does* return
{mikri} in valsi.

Now, I don't know if it's actually possible to *fix* JVS because ti'e
the original developer is no longer with us and no one knows how to
use ey's stuff.
At least, can we say that in JVS2 this will be fixed?

What is "ey"? I keep seeing that. Is it being used to mean [s]he?

It's essentially an alternative to singular "they" which some people
on this list hate, not to mention that the spivak pronoun is somewhat
common among some of the jbopre on IRC.

Use *eir* stuff.

Honestly, I don't particularly like "ey" much either, seeing as it's literally "they" with the "th" removed.

Personally, I'd much rather just change the accepted meaning of "it" from "gender-lacking third person" to "gender-unspecified third person".

Especially since, you know, that's what it /means/. Connotation be damned,

Or, alternatively, the revival of the once ubiquitous now rarely seen practice of using "one". (Such as for example when Andrew of "Bicentennial Man" does when referring to himself before being "freed".)

I was just providing a correction.

Ey went with em and em to get eir backpack and eir book.
However, ey is not home and ey has not been home in a day.

Correct conjugation throughout.

This is now off-topic. I was just being snarky.

I'm sorry to cause confusion. While I was replying to your message, I wasn't responding to what you wrote. I was fully aware of what you were talking about.

Further, this thing has been off-topic since the second message. I would suggest we draw and quarter the person who sent that message and caused this divergence, but seeing as that was me, I'd ask for my sentence to be reduced to a scolding. :)
