There are several possible routes you can take. If you wish to get
personal coaching, then the Lojban IRC channel #ckule is probably the
best place to go. To reach it, open this link:
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=ckule

And just say hello, and things will go from there. We have several
teachers and also several people who recently started learning, so
you'll be in good and welcoming hands.

We're working on having more audio files. Lojban isn't usually learned
the same way as other languages because the grammar is so different.
It's usually more rewarding to get a solid grasp of how the grammar
works before anything else. Memorizing phrases before that stage seems
like a waste of time. If you'd like to hear spoken Lojban, you can skim
through the various recordings here:
http://www.lojban.org/tiki/Multimedia
I would also be able to offer you pronunciation lessons via voice chat,
download Mumble from: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/
Again, just come to #ckule, and we'll be happy to help out in more detail.

> Anyone want to share with me how they started speaking Lojban?

I randomly heard of it almost 5 years ago because I am into constructed
languages and Lojban was mentioned now and then on the conlang mailing
list. Once I decided to see for myself what it was about, I ended up on
IRC, and started receiving lessons on the same day. After 2 days I knew
the basics. It has been a wonderful experience for me and I still
cherish it.

You have several options:
"nolti'u" = noble daughter, the daughter of a noble one#
"nolfe'i" = noble/high-born female
".saras." = Sarah, just lojbanized the spelling/pronunciation

To use your name in a sentence, you'll usually need to stick a "la"
before it, but you'll learn about that soon anyway.

I hope this was helpful,

I normally attack a new language by reading a book in it along with the same
book in a language I already know. This wasn't available when I started, but
there is now a translation of Alice. I think what I did was read the grammar
and the word lists and start composing sentences.

I'd go with "saras" or "sarat" (I add a "t" to feminine names in Afro-Asiatic
languages, so Eve is xavat, and Sarah is sarat, in the Bible). As to your
email address, "ciftoldi" means "baby butterfly", and the Caterpillar in Alice
is so called.

Welcome, i started learning Lojban by first reading the "What is lojban" book, which contains most(?) grammar. Later i started to learn the gismu list on memrise.com
And here i am now, enjoying lojban "yo mama"-jokes. ^^
Even though i still need to look up most gismu, as i have learned only about 250 of them on memrise, and dont know any rafsi or cmavo, it still is fun.

I highly recommend these lessons linked here along side The LLG's YouTube page, which has video lessons.

I'd also appreciate it if our darling community could start linking those instead of outdated and obscure material as we've put a lot of effort into making these resources and refining them so they teach much better than the old material everybody seems to be linking.
