We don't have much time left for UADC, SMU Hammers and Australs. Then there's INDC that we should consider going for, as blatantly - almost disgustingly - disingenuous as its title may be, due to the potential of the initiative. Project submissions are in a week, exams follow etc. etc. Hence, should we just scrap Round 2 of selections for Asians and just offer the 3 tournaments right now? There's limited interest for all 3 tournaments and, following last year's pattern, teams formed in Round 2 - barring very few exceptions - haven't debated as teams at premier tournaments.

As things stand, we'd been granted 2 teams and 2 adjudicators for UADC. Registration is around 16k per person. However, we haven't paid the deposit money and thus getting more than 1 - 2 teams seems a far shot. Hardly anybody seems to be interested as well, but we should be in a position to offer 1 team and 1 adjudicator slot as long as we pay the full amount by the last date. For this, we need to take a loan from the VC, but we're already a bit in the red with the college so there's no point taking the loan if people won't go.

For SMU Hammers, though we'd registered in time, we haven't received any confirmations. A mail's been sent seeking clarifications and considering it's an open tournament, regional in nature and has a 100 team cap, I'm hopeful we'll get 1 team at least. This is a pretty cheap, no-frills tournament, but it's damn convenient and there's a fair bit of interest since there's a novice break as well. Further, registration's about INR 2600 and daily accommodation is about 2000 per person.

For Australs, we have no issues at all. It's 3 months from now, but the deposit payment is due in exactly 3 weeks. While the reg fee of almost 29k is an absolute bitch, Air Asia flies direct to Kuala Lumpur, so travel costs are minimal (13.5 - 18k per person including return). So, it'd be a convenient tournament to go for, and it'll need substantial prior practice if we want to put up a good showing. We have 2 teams and 1 adjudicator allotted and it should give great exposure.

For INDC, might as well go win it. No point going for it if we won't make finals at least since other institutions are taking it quite seriously. So we'll need a top team to go in 4 weeks time to Delhi.

Taking the above into account, I vote yes to scrap Round 2 of Asian selections.
