Hi Guys,
i'm looking the way to override joomla's MVC component, and i got this address:
http://docs.joomla.org/How_to_override_the_component_mvc_from_the_Joomla!_core

there are several question i would like to ask:
1. if this information still valid for all version of Joomla ?
2. there are 2 ways to override MVC by template or by application scope, anybody have idea which one is faster/better ? why we had 2 option for the same purpose ?

Thanks

Hi Viktor,

I've tested both scopes on a J!2.5.8 & J!3.0.2 with the com_content controller and can't make it work. Have you succeeded ?

That tutorial assumes you have installed the MVC plugin or something like it.

In short, no it is not valid for any version of Joomla without installing and enabling the MVC plugin.  That said, if you use that 3rd party plugin, or write your own, then yes you can use that method.

Hi Gary,

You're right, I should have read the doc better. I thought there were 2 distinct methods : plugin OR /code/ folder.

Thanks,

Olivier
