Hey you guys,
Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.
I have an install of Joomla on a clients site.
The hosting is on windows.

The client hired someone else to do something and gave them ftp access. Whatever they did erased the administrator login.
So I can't log in anymore. The login page doesn't even come up.

Any ideas? Or should I just tell the client tough luck?

;)

Hi,
more information needed.
Login on front or on backend?

Tip: Before you change anything, make a backup of both files and database.

If backend:
Possible mistakes:
  • check your browser: Javascript activated? must be activated
  • change browser: Moz FF instead of IE or the other way round
  • via ftp: permissions (chmod, make sure that the folders and files are readable)
  • via ftp: .htaccess in administrator folder? deactivate .htacces by renaming it
  • things I didn't think of right now

Kind regards,
Mareike

Whatever they did erased the administrator login.

How it erased the administrator login?  It deletes the admin user from the database? or it deletes the login files?

It did it once or it does it every time you added it?

So I can't log in anymore. The login page doesn't even come up.

If it's just the files, manually reinstall the administration files from a new package of the version of your Joomla.  Try not to overwrite your component, plugging and modules if you have added modules, plugging and components.

Backup the rest of the site including your extensions before making any changes.

Check in database if any administrator user exist.
If so then replace joomla file in your server (if you did not customize any core file)

Or if you see when you try to login in joomla admin it's not showing you loging form may be developer add some plugin for security reason.
Dont forget to backup before anything.

Thank you

Have you checked the admin template? could be the reason why the login page doesn't show up.
