I recently tried to connect JBT to IB Gateway, but got a receive timed out message. Didn't see any message in the API message log of IB Gateway, tried both 4001 and 7496 ports, am I alone on this? It used to be fine with exactly the same setup. Thanks,

Never had a problem of this kind, but you might just want to check the preferences of JBT. There you can determine the port.  (Change it as you like, restart JBT)
Then make sure that the configuration of IB Gateway has the same port, also restart this one..

But a completely different problem may also lead to a receive time out message: JBT attempts to synchronize with a time server. This might time out as well (I recently had this issue).
I replaced the given time server by a time server based on the ntp-pool as described there http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/
Since then, I do not have this problem anymore.

Jack, please post your EventReport.html, so that we can see what's going on. As Klaus said, it sounds like your NTP time server is unreachable.

Thanks Klaus and Eugene, it's the NTP time server problem, it looks like a recent problem with the default NTP time server, worked fine for the past two years until about one month back.

Just as Klaus, I use the NTP server from http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/
Pick the NTP pool from the country closest to you. I use us.pool.ntp.org, and it works well.
