It's been almost 2 years since the JBT user guide has been revised, so I am looking for volunteers to update it. All screen shots and instructions should reflect the current state of JBT. To give you an incentive, your participation will count as a contribution to the project which would entitle you to the access of the password-protected ES historical data set.

If you are interested, please let me know, and I'll give you a "write" access to the guide:

Two JBTers have volunteered to work on the manual, so I am no longer looking, thanks. However, if you would like to see anything in particular in the new JBookTrader manual, or have any other suggestions, feel free to post them here.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing the great work on JBT. I'm a newcomer for JBT, and
want to use the existing strategies to trade other securities than ES,
and then add my own trading strategy. There's one missing section in
the user guide, "Adding your own trading strategy", wondering whether
there's any update on this section since the User Guide was last
updated?

Thanks,
Jack

It didn't work out with my previous volunteers for working on the JBT user guide, so I am looking for more people.

Yeah, sorry guys.  Several reasons for this.  Applying for grad school right now so life has halted.

Eugene, not sure if the latest release has the code, but we need stuff for capping the values on the optimization map at some non-infinite value. I gave you some code that turns them to purple or something like that. I haven't checked lately if you did anything with it. When you try and make repeatable graphs with some strategies the scale and map just goes kinda stupid when the number of trades gets low.  I see this a lot on the first pass where I set the parameter ranges wide.

I'm willing to write the documentation as I go along the code,
provided that the developers are willing to be on the phone if needed?

Jack, Junjun:

The JBT user guide is here:
https://docs.google.com/View?id=dfzgvqp4_10gb63b8hg&pli=1

I've added your accounts to the list of contributors, so if you scroll all the way down the manual, you'll notice that you now have an "edit this page" option enabled for you.

I am looking for the following:

1. All references, screenshots, and links should refer to JBT version 8.07 (which is coming soon)
2. All screenshots should be re-generated to reflect the JBT latest state
3. All screenshots must be consistent in theme, size, format, resolution
4. Sections referring to non-existing functionality should be removed
5. All the existing sections are rather terse. More detail and explanation is needed
6. The "Adding your own strategy" section must be completed. I'll probably take the first stab at it, and let you guys review it for clarity and completeness.
7. Create a "Adding your own indicator" section.
8. Regular and section fonts must be consistent
9. Document should be better formatted in terms of margins, layout, and overall look and feel
10. We probably need to include a couple of UML diagrams to explain JBT technical architecture

If you feel any additional sections are needed, or have any other suggestions, let's discuss it here.

Eugene, I should be able take care of most of the non-technical update
such as screenshots, links, texts, formats. For code or strategy
related, we may need to discuss how to handle those. btw, do you mind
if the screenshots are taken from a window system rather than an apple
system (as is done right now)?

Attached is a summary of the sample indicators and strategies in the current release of JBT, hope it's useful for new comers to JBT. Comments are of course welcome.
