I have to replace my laptop backpack soon - and maybe this is a good place to ask for recommendations.

Who in here knows a cool laptop backpack ? :-D

(It's not black. That alone makes it cool.)

I don't think I've ever bought a computer bag - they seem to grow on trees. Everywhere I go, someone's giving me one. Sometimes they're con-schwag and they've got branding all over them, sometimes they're just extra ones lying around. I keep trying to give them away, but more of them turn up.

I don't know why I got this particular juju, and I think I'd like to exchange it for a different one, but I don't think I'll ever be short of computer bags.

For what it's worth, I've found myself most partial to the small Dell shoulder bag that just holds the laptop and a paperback and not a lot else. It keeps me from loading myself up with stuff I really don't need, but might need, but really actually won't. The backpacks seem to turn into shoulder bags anyway, even though it's ergonomically disastrous.

What I really want, and I'm sure I can find it if I do something simple like look for it, is a laptop bag/briefcase that secures to my bike as well as my actual bike bags. Or, the other way around, a pannier-type bag that'll do good service as a briefcase/laptop bag. That would be so awesome I'd even probably pay for it.

This is my backpack, and I love it.

I considered that Incase backpack, but I just couldn't get myself to
like the style. I also looked at the Timbuk2 Q Backpack (black):

http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/backpacks/backpack-laptop/q-backpack

which is a little better. However, I ended up going with the Timbuk2
Option Backpack:

http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/backpacks/backpack-laptop/option-backpack

It's not bad, and it was an easy choice when it was half off during a
one-day sale just when I was about to order it for full price
anyway. ;) Be sure to notice where the laptop goes. There's a padded
pocket in the back with a zipper on top, so you don't have to open the
flap to get your laptop out. I actually put a laptop sleeve in there
to provide extra padding so I can put a tablet in with the laptop (and
have even fit a laptop, tablet, and Chromebook in there, though that
starts to get pretty heavy).

The Q Backpack might be a little more practical in terms of easy
access to the storage, and I might choose it if I were to do it again.
Still, I like the Option because it doesn't look like just another
backpack that everyone else has.

Jon,

I have one of these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Altura-Urban-17-Briefcase/dp/B000P1ROLM

Highly recommended - I've been through downpours and everything stays dry. The laptop has its own sleeve, so everything is nicely cushioned too.

Cheers,
Darren

I want one that hurts whoever tries to open it while it's on my back.

No, really.
