To help encourage and facilitate discussion of future changes to the
Java Language Specification, I have created this new group:

http://groups.google.com/group/java-language-specification

All interested parties are welcome.

Please note, that this is an UNOFFICIAL site.  It is not currently
supported, in any way, by the Java Community Process (http://jcp.org/).
As they don't currently have this facility available, I felt we, the Java Community,
needed it.

So, please come along and have your say.

Regards,
Brad Willcott.

Hi Brad,

Great initiative, I'll also add:

* Oracle are planning on hosting much more open and friendly resources for JSRs (this is something that SouJava and the LJC have volunteered to help with), so hopefully there will be a central place to do these sorts of things coming up soon.

* Are the types of discussion you're looking to initiate not already covered by the following mailing lists (http://mail.openjdk.java.net/mailman/listinfo)?

Cheers,
Martijn

Hi Martijn,
I was not aware of these lists, before now.  However, after a quick look at their
descriptions, I don't think they are appropriate.  They will be, for the technical
work of actually writing up the code after the JLS has been changed, but I don't
think they would be interested in the abstract level of discussion going on.

We are working through ideas for changes to the spec.  Later, it will be necessary
for the hard core tech work.  But now, we are throwing ideas around to try and get
a consensus that appears to work.

Hope to get some input from you there.

All interested parties are welcome.

Regards,
Brad.
