Microsoft Research (MSR) Israel is looking for a PhD intern to join us in research spanning the gap between Statistics, Machine Learning, Computational Sociology, or Information Retrieval and Medicine. MSR internships are either 12-week paid internships or long-term part-time positions. PhD interns are expected to devise and execute a research project during their internships, for which the expected outcome is a publishable scholarly paper for a top academic journal or conference. The goal of the internship is to help the intern advance their own career; interns are strongly encouraged to work towards a publication outcome that will help them on the academic job market. There are also opportunities to engage with product groups at Microsoft, although this is not a requirement.
Intern candidates must be students enrolled in a relevant field of study. Candidates ideally should be in the second or third year of an established PhD program.
