Hi there,

Could you please expand a bit on what you mean by the loan feature? If you mean something similar to a library circulation system, there is currently not something like this implemented in AtoM or ICA-AtoM, unless of course another user has a local customization that they would like to share.

Cheers,

Sarah

Hi there,

You are correct - as an open source project, anyone is free to download the code and modify or improve it.

You will find an overview of the elements that make up AtoM (or ICA-AtoM) here:

Both AtoM and ICA-AtoM are built in PHP, using the Symfony 1.x framework - so you will need to familiarize yourself with Symfony 1.4 to develop new features or modules:

In general, we recommend that developers adding features to AtoM follow Symfony's plugin development model. Most of the existing modules in AtoM and ICA-AtoM have been built as plugins. Here is an earlier user forum post where we provide links to the Symfony plugin development documentation:

In this thread, our lead AtoM developer offer some suggestions and examples to a user who wants to create a new plugin by copying and adapting an existing one:

And here's a thread in which we give a few suggestions on how to develop a custom theme plugin:

As well, these posts indicate that GAIA Resources, another development company based in Australia, was developing a loans module for AtoM 2. You may wish to try contacting them and seeing if they have finished this yet, and if so, if the code is publicly available:

Note that Kehan Harman of GAIA suggests in the second post that he was developing this loans module by copying and adapting the existing accessions module. This might be a good way for you to proceed as well.

We have also previously heard that XerCode, yet another development company in Galicia, were also working on a loans module. See:

In both cases, I have not yet heard about the outcome of these projects, but you might be able to talk to them. Both Edgar of Xercode and Kehan of Gaia Resources participate in our user forum. Even if they are not able to share the code, they might have suggestions for you!

I hope that helps get you started! Let us know how it goes :)

Hi;

sorry for late answer to this post.

As Dan said, we are working in a Loan plugin, but we don't finish it yet.

We hope to publish it once finished the project and review the convergence with the main branch of AtoM.

Best regards

Hello everyone,

I am interested to know whether anyone has progressed with the loan module and would like to share or talk about it.
Is there a working group for this and if not, could we create one? It seems like quite a few of us need it and want it to happen.

Hi Michaels
The State Records office of WA has a loans retrieval module which we implemented about four years ago. Contact our developers, gaiaresources.com.au, for details.
