I am having a problem with step 2 of the install. It says Loading Data at the top of the page and but this error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM in /home1/archbcor/public_html/lib/QubitSearch.class.php on line 299
When I check the actual database the tables are there but I can't go any further in the install.
Any help would be appreciated. I have tried deleting the database and reloading all of the ica-atom install files but same result.
I have installed to Wamp with no problem.

Hi Veronica,

Could you tell me what version of ICA-AtoM you are trying to install?
Another user ran into the same error she they were trying to install ICA-AtoM 1.2. Please review the troubleshooting provided by our developer, Jesús at: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/ica-atom-users/ghfcHHA8V-0/7GZmGCH4sc8J.
His advice to update your PHP to 5.3 (required).

Regards,
Jessica

Thanks for your response. I upgraded to 5.3.14 from 5.2 and reloaded all of the install files for 1.2.1 ICA AtoM.
Now I get a blank screen. I had tried this awhile ago and got a blank screen even using PHP 5.3.
The install with 5.2 was the closest I have gotten so far but I seem to have gone 1 step forward and 2 steps back..

Hi Veronica,

Sorry we don't provide remote installation services for ICA-AtoM.   We would recommend hiring a local IT Consultant with experience installing similar open source PHP web applications, such as Drupal or Wordpress.  We also provide ICA-AtoM hosted sites for $1500 CDN per year, See: <http://www.artefactual.com/ica-atom>.

We are also happy to continue trying to troubleshoot your installation via the forum.  When you switched to debug mode, what error messages did you see?

Hi David
I have in fact installed many wordpress and drupal sites and not had the problems I am having with this one although Drupal can certainly be challenging at times.
I havehad no problem with the Wamp install.
I have gone through your documentation many times.
I was able to get to the first step of install when I reverted to php 5.2 but then had the database issue as stated below.
When I change over to 5.3 I got nothing but white screen. I have tried removing the files and reloading quite a few times now but this is time consuming and not getting me anywhere.
I work for a non-profit working on a grant so unfortunately we cannot afford $1500 per year.
I would be grateful for any assistance you can give me. I am particularly interested in the new version coming out in August.
I can work on the local version for now.
Thanks.

Hi Veronica,

Have you tried putting ICA-AtoM into debug mode
<https://www.qubit-toolkit.org/wiki/Debug_mode> for the 5.3 install, as
described in the FAQ?

David

I am wondering if a different server might be better. I use hostmonster. Is there one that anyone might recommend?

Hi Veronica,

Have you checked your web server error log? You may find more details about the error there. Please read the last paragraph of the following section in our FAQ page: https://www.qubit-toolkit.org/wiki/FAQ#Why_do_I_get_a_blank_white_screen.3F

Some hosting providers may set very low PHP execution limits. If this is the case, you can get unexpected errors like the one you are describing. Some providers allow you to increase these limits manually. More details here: https://www.qubit-toolkit.org/wiki/PHP_script_execution_limits

If you are looking for another provider, I personally like OVH. They have an inexpensive branch of unmanaged virtual and dedicated servers called Kimsufi: http://www.kimsufi.co.uk/ - and you can always add a web panel to make its maintenance easier.

Regards,

Hi Veronica,

Try deleting the application cache. On the command-line, run the
following command from your AtoM directory:

rm -Rf cache/*

Then please try the running the installer again.
