Hello,

I want to copy an analysis window from a colleague and provide it with
new data.
I somehow fail to do it the way it's meant to be within the
configuration tool --> Export/Import (I tested advanced and standard)
- The IADS server crashes at reimporting the Desktop/ Analysis Window
into my new data/ pfConfig.

So another colleague does it always this way: Instead of using the
import/export functionallity of the configuration tool, he just copies
the pfConfig with the wanted analysis window into a new folder and
imports his new data from a csv file with IADS server import while
clicking yes on the question about merging.

The only problem is, that this merge is only incremental. That means,
that the pfConfig file keeps getting bigger at each merge due to not
deleting parameters by itself, that the new IADS server .csv import
doesn't contain.

Is there a way to flush a pfConfig file off all parameters that aren't
used in any window?

Thanks for posting in advance!

Hi Ruben-

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with the export/import.  Can you tell me what version of IADS you're using and can you send us the config and the import file you're using? I'm sure Jim or Brenda will want to take a look at them.

As far as pruning the parameter list, there is one way I can think of. It's a little crude but it should work.  Make a XidML file with 1 IENA parameter in and run GSWorks/kQuicklook with the 'purge' option checked. This will strip your pfConfig down to that 1 parameter + whatever derived parameters you have.  Cancel out of GSWorks/kQuicklook and then import your new CSV file.

Ruben,

I haven’t heard of the app crashing on import before. Yes, please do send us that import file (and the initial config file you imported into) if possible.

The other option is that you can bring up the config in “local mode” client, go to the ParameterDefaults table, select all the rows (button in upper left corner of the spreadsheet), right click “Cut”, Save.... In other words, just cut the parameters out manually.

Dear Kathy, Dear James,
thank You both for posting.

I am using IADS 7.3.
I could send You the pfConfig file, but not the classified data.
However I noticed that
1. it is not the import function that leads to PTDS crashing (see e-
mail), import actually terminates well A-OK! But only when afterwards
loading the imported Analysis Window on a client lets PTDS crash.
2. when I stripped down the .CSV data file to just a few lines of
(dummy) data but the exactly same columns/ parameters
- and then I import that data with PTDS-import CSV
- and then I import the exact same Analysis Window (that led to the
crash) to the PTDS-import-created pfConfig
- it doesn't let PTDS crash after loading the Analysis Window

> GSWorks/kQuicklook ...
Ehhm. That is ACRA-Control software, right? I only do have the
"regular" IADS 7.3 Client/ Server here at Mr. Zimmermanns office. Only
for my curiosity: How come that ACRA provides a software "kQuicklook"
that looks exactly like EADS Local Mode Client???

> .... In other words, just cut the parameters out manually.
damn, I didn't think of that. But since one of the reason for me doing
that was that I wanted a list with all parameters that are actually
used in the Analysis Windows, browsing this great forum I found a
functionallity in the ConfigurationTool called "Tools->Desktop Summary
Report"

Hello.

Just because of curiosity, I tried to narrow the error source down of
the PTDS crash.
I can't manage it to repeat the crash today (after IADS Server and
Client both got rebooted at the weekend). Import and loading of the
display works just fine today...
Everythink works fine now!

Ruben,

Sounds like you ran out of memory/handles and needed a reboot. Of course that implies that some app you're running is leaking resources. Hope it's not us. Next time that happens let us know so we can investigate further (before you reboot)

GSWorks via Acra is essentially an OEM version of IADS with extended capabilities for interacting with Acra hardware.
kQuicklook is a highly stripped down version of GSWorks. Basically IADS Light (no ActiveX Controls, no Freq Domain, etc.)

Sorry, Ruben, for mudding the waters with my previous suggestion. There is another Ruben who works for Curtis Wright (formerly Acra) and when your post first dropped into my email bucket, I thought it came from him.

Like Mike mentioned, the display client in kQuick is a highly stripped down version of the local mode client. Compare the two applications side by side and you’ll start to notice all the missing menu items and buttons. Essentially, it’s the bare minimum amount of displays and capabilities just to view the data from a live test. Here’s a list of the items that were removed from kQuick (not exhaustive):

No post test support (can’t view previously saved data like the IADS local mode client)
No tools to support the analysis of data
No desktop support (limited to only one desktop)
No user support (limited to only one user)
No data export (Excel, CSV, Matlab)
No import/export of Desktops or AnalysisWindows
No TestPoint support
No data editing support,
No automated analysis support
No shared AnalysisWindow support
No ActiveX Controls , NyquistPlots, FrequencyPlots, FlutterSummaryPlots, LoadsSummaryPlots, OctiveBandDisplays, FrequencyResponsePlots, or RandomDecDisplays
No dual monitor support
No time based stripcharts
No run while minimized windows
No global time tool
No classification support
No load limit support
Limited config table access
No mission attribute or envelope tool
No CrossPlot envelopes
No custom Stripchart grids
No DataViews support

Hello Kathy, hello Jim,

thanks for clearing my issue and by the way for educating me about
ACRA/ Curtis Wright!

Best regards,
