Hey Everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about larger scale hexayurt inspired structures.
One design I think has some promise that I've been developing is what I call a Dodecayurt 36. It's about 700 square feet, so it's a little bigger in terms of floorspace than 4 hexayurts put together. It uses 36 panels 4x8 panels, cut up just like the hexayurt, just with another kind of triangle thrown into the mix and the whole thing has twelve sides instead of six, and for one this size, the roof extends out in sorta a cone and a conical ring, two layers. Seen anything like it around? Think it might work?
Also, I've seen some people talking about prodex with a frame as an alternative to thermax and filament tape. Anybody done anything about it yet? Is thermax still hard to get a hold of on the west coast? I'm in Santa Cruz. Prodex seems to have pretty attractive qualities, and it's not too expensive. Add a frame and it's probably more than thermax and tape would've been, but if you can't get thermax, might this be a better option than the alternative foam panel options? (I've been reading a lot about flammability concerns, and I'm worried about the structural integrity of what I've seen available at home depot around here.)
Interested to hear anybody's thoughts.
Regards,
Brian Evans
