Slim has a plan for funding, as he has mentioned details will be forthcoming in the very near future.  

I have had some discussions with people regarding their interest in running harp-l.  Mostly they have been of the if nobody else will do it maybe I'll do it.  The follows ups have been hmm not sure I have the time at the moment.  I can talk about this later in more detail.  I don't have the mind space for it at the moment,

There is no immediate danger that harp-l will be shut down any time soon.  Redundant, I know. 

John, your hosting is comparatively expensive. Currently we pay 24 and change for our VPS.  Buying a year in advance would drop that cost.   I'm not sure if you were offering to host for free.  We did that before with Hugh.  It didn't work out very well.  Hugh lost his position at the company and it all just slid downhill in a hurry.  Not that the same thing would happen again but that currently that part isn't broken so why fix it?  Down the road it might be  something to consider, lets see how this other thing works out first.

Hi,

Nobody ever asked me details. I've not talked to anyone about this, so not sure what you are referring to.  I host dozens of VPS's, am competent running Mailman instances, and have my own hosting company....and have for ten years.  Although nobody asked, I was willing to host and help run the list for free.

Sounds like you have it covered, guys. Good luck with the transition.

Covered for the moment but I in no way meant to be abrupt or burn a bridge.  My sincere apologies for any offense I may have caused. I assumed the help was volunteered but I wasn't wanting to make assumptions about the hosting.  I just looked at the plans offered by the company you mentioned and they seemed to be higher than where we are now.
