Hi Gang.

Spurred on by all the talk of LiPo batteries, and having a NiCd charger for my R/C stuff but not a general purpose LiPo charger, I ordered one from HobbyKing.

So now I've got an email saying my order could take up to 45 days to arrive!

My R/C tank from HobbyKing didn't take that long, but for so generic an item as a charger, I'd have thought it would be stocked locally.

Didn't someone on this list say there was a store on Glen Osmond Rd selling HobbyKing gear?
As an occasional impulse buyer, I'd like to have a browse in a store like that.

(I bought some cute small servos from AdaFruit that could equally easily have come from a local HobbyKing distributor.)

Ken.

Yes:

Prices a little higher than online.

Thanks Jamie. Could have saved myself $10 postage.

It sounds like they have an  Australian warehouse and a Hong Kong one, and the shipping time and cost change accordingly.

Has anyone been to the Parkside store?
I really want a multi-rotor controll board, my GoPro needs to fly!
A tricopter sounds a fine idea!

I didn't think they were physically possible, but people have built them.

tri-copters are actually very stable and easy to build - don't even need a control board, simply use a radio with CCPM mixing then run 3 standard gyro's (one for each motor) to keep it stable. The down side is you still need  servo to tilt one of the motors to control yaw.

Quad copters are mechanically simpler - as you can control thrust by changing the speeds of the counter rotating props, but require more complex mixing - usually done by an on-board control module.

^ sorry, that is control yaw by changing the speed of the motors in a quad.
