Not really, Apple provides no hooks for it, and the only ways I've
ever heard discussed all involve horrible, ugly hacks that are liable
to induce all sorts of stability issues, even if everything is done
"right". We won't be writing any such hacks, and likely wouldn't
endorse any that get created because of the risk of instability.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the info, however saddening it is :( At least I know not to keep my hopes up, nor to keep looking... I'll just have to evangelize Growl as a preferable alternative to NC to those projects where I might have a chance of influencing the outcome :)

Growl is preferable in all of the scenarios where a developer wants notifications. If Growl isn't running on a machine and the developer is using the Growl framework, the framework will automatically switch to either Notification Center, or on 10.6/10.7 a built-in notification called Mist.

When talking to developers be sure to mention that.
