Growl 1.3 Menubar Icon

In Growl 1.3 how can I turn off the menubar icon?

I really don't like menubar icons and I don't use the history so no
need for Growl to stay in the menubar at all.

I don't know if it's useless, however it is going to be looked into for 1.3.1. :)

I totally agree - pointless use of valuable space. Can't even Command
drag it off.

IMHO, menubar icon should always be optional. App preferences could
easily be reached at least by following ways:

1) starting the app from application menu although it is already
open. Menustrip app does that and it is really nice solution.
2) add a small coq to the growl message like Alfred does with its
window.
3) App preferences could also be added to System preferences.

Otherwise great app!!

Same, here. I'm perplexed that I can't turn off the menu bar item. Was
happy to contribute by buying it from the app store but of course, now
a bit unhappy about this evolutionary regression...
