I am using Growl 1.3.3. I am having issues changed the notification
style. I went ahead and removed growl. deleted the application.
cleared out the preferences from the library. removed the
preferencepane. Then restarted my computer, and did a clean reinstall.
Once I reinstalled I changed all the preferences (on both the default
as well as per application) to a type of notification. I click
Preview, and it seems to take. I close it to save. Restart my computer
again just to be sure, and then the next application notification is
the old configuration. It will not update. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

How are you changing the display style?

Chris

I've had similar issues with v1.3.3. I've tried removing and re-installing the application, deleting the preferences etc.
I have GrowlingLion selected as the default style under Displays > Settings, but from time to time (it seems to be after reboots / logins / wakes from sleep) the notification style reverts to the original default style.

If there are any logs / any further information I can give you to help, please do let me know.

The same question applies to you, how are you selecting the default? I ask this first since some people think that setting the default is done by simply selecting the display on the left, and not in the drop down at the top.

I have the exact same issue. I set styles using the drop down in the upper part of the preference panel above the individual settings. Styles that I add are not shown in the list on the left for previewing either after installing multiple times. when i install the style again it says its installed but it only displays if i save over the previous version and adjust the settings right then. However as soon as I logout or reboot growl's style reverts back to the orignal style and none of the styles I had added are in the preview list or selection list for setting the style.

if you look in this path - Your Home Directory -> Library -> Application Support -> Growl -> Plugins, do you see the style you tried installing (I am reading that right, right? You installed a style and are not seeing it?)

I installed several styles that were custom. Most were grabbed around the web, a few were mine, but they are all in the Library>AppsSupport>Growl>Plugins directory as .growlstyle files.

However they do not show up in is the display styles list of the growl preferences. I have to reinstall them (it asks if i want to overwrite it since its already installed) which I do. Then they show up when each is installed again individually. Unfortunately they disappear again after a logout or reboot and I had to repeat the same process to get them back.
