I had purchased and installed Growl 1.3.3 on my Mac with OX Lion running on the machine, however, after installation, when I double click on the Growl icon, the App just won't start.   Why is that and can someone help me to find out the solution?

Thanks!!

Check in Console (It's in Applications -> Utilities) and see if anything about Growl shows up right after you try to launch Growl.

Above is what had showed up in Console after I tried to start up Growl.  Please check and advise if this can be resolved.  Thanks..

Go to  /Users/Andrew_Pang/Library/Application Support/Growl/ and rename notifications.history, then try launching Growl again. We'll be addressing the large majority of why Growl would have problems with this in 1.4.

I have the same issue, after double clicking it won't open. MY console report is different than the above user:

When I try to rename the notifications history the growl app isn't in the application support folder....

Thanks for the prompt reply.  However, there's no subfolder Growl within Application Support.  Please also advise when version 1.4 will be available for upgrade.

your console would seem to suggest otherwise…
are you sure you're looking in the right Library folder (there are several, and the one in your user directory is now hidden by default in Lion)?
From Finder, try Go->Go to Folder (cmd+shift+g), type in /Users/Andrew_Pang/Library/Application Support/Growl and hit go. That should open the folder for you if it exists.

The directory path you need to enter in the go box in finder depends
on your user name /Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/
Growl, where <user name> should be replaced with your user name, in
your case, it seems to be chrismcdowell. 1.4 is in review, and will
have improvements for database reliability, and improvements if it
gets corrupt. We will move it aside, and inform the user we are
creating a new database, and failing all else, we will create a purely
in memory store for the purposes of using the rollup.
