We have received a tremendous amount of feedback in the past couple
days and we're doing our best to reply to everyone's communications
via Twitter, Email and IRC. We know that there are a number of things
that went awry with the release, and we're planning on fixing many of
them over the next week or two. The current list of things that are
slated to be addressed in Growl 1.3.1 cover many of the complaints
with Growl itself. You can read the current list at
http://code.google.com/p/growl/issues/list?can=2&q=milestone=1.3.1

really getting annoying.

Switch off of a queue'ing display until we get 1.3.1 out and that should stop the crashing. :)

If you've installed 1.3 via MAS on Lion, I think the official uninstallation is it should be done via launchpad.  Click-and-hold until the 'x' comes up on the icon and click it.

that won't, however delete the settings, which is really all that needs to be done here.

you need to go to your library folder (which is now hidden, yeah thanks apple), and delete some preferences files.

to reset your default notification and other growl settings:
quit growl
Open a finder window, hit cmd+shift+G, type in ~/Library/Preferences, hit go.
find com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp.plist in the resulting folder, delete it.

to remove/reset individual application settings:
quit growl
open a finder window, hit cmd+shift+G, type in ~/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets, hit go.
delete any <app>.growlTicket files for apps whose individual settings you wish to reset.

reopen growl, and you should be good to go.
