Although I think this is Windows-only, isn't it? I remember a
Unix-Systen (SUSE) where it was something very strange including the Alt
key. It's also maybe not "Tools > Preferences" but "Edit > Preferences".

Nope.  Command-Shift-A works on Mac, and same as above works on (Ubuntu) Linux.

These instructions worked perfect for me.  It is amazing how many hours one can spend looking for the exact details of How To because we assume other people know steps but some of us truly do not.  Thank you for the clear instructions.
