When clicking the checkmark on a task you now have the option for the task to simply be crossed off instead of removed from the list.

By default all top-level tasks are completed and archived simultaneously, while subtasks are crossed off, but left active.  Of course you can change these settings to fit your personal preference.

See here for full details:

My hope is that this will make working with subtasks much easier and useful.

Thanks to everyone who has suggested this change in one form or another!

Hi Cameron,

I noticed that when you go to archive a crossed out task (by holding the shift button down and clicking the checkmark), it deletes the task instead of archiving it. I have my setting set to "No Tasks" when it comes to archiving them initially when checked.

Thanks,
Geoff

Hi Geoff -

Are you talking about subtasks, by chance?  If you archive subtasks they will not show up in the Archived section until the parent task is also archived.  This is the same as it was before (and why I introduced the option to cross-off).  See here for how to view archived subtasks of parent tasks that are still active:

Hi Cameron,

Yes, I was talking about the subtasks, thanks for the link. I had forgotten about that.

Hi Cameron,

Great work with the crossing off of tasks! Thanks!

If I may suggest an extra improvement, could you add the option to
hide/show crossed-off tasks, same as we can hide/show comments etc?
The difference between that and archiving is two-fold:
a. The original task order is preserved when crossing-off tasks, but
apparently not when archiving.
b. Clicking a small icon to show/hide crossed off tasks would be far
quicker than navigating to a task overview and back.

Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

May I suggest do NOT cross off task NOTES?
Crossing of the task name, together with color fade, is visually appealing, no doubts. But when you "cross of" task notes, it creates extra mess. Task notes are - details, clarifying text, list of suggestions, report of completion etc etc - all the information which remains to be relevant even if the task is completed. To read long text with strikethrough is not an easy task.
For "crossed off" NOTES I suggest to apply color fade as a text attribute, but with no strikethrough.

Best, Sergei.

Thank you, Cameron! This addition will save me a ton of time on a
daily basis! I love the way crossed off items simply fade out, too.
Brilliant!!'

Happy New Year!

+1 on this suggestion. Very useful to be able to hide/show crossed off
tasks.

Thanks Cameron, this is a great feature. I wonder if you could also implement a function where crossed-off tasks can be archived by selecting an icon/function on the task (e.g. similar to the 'delete' icon, but perhaps located near the checkbox on the left). The need to hit shift and select I do not believe will work when accessing Gqueues online with an iPad and onscreen keyboard. Also the crossoff does not work for Gqueues mobile. For us mobile users, probably more than 70% of our time working with Gqueues is via mobile or online access via iPad or smartphone.
