Is there a way to specify a width on the tooltipTextStyle? For longer
labels, the tool tip is getting cut off for my charts -- any ideas for
a workaround?

I'm not sure what are you referring to.
There's a bug just introduced where tooltip are cut off the edge of the chart. We're working on it.
In addition, on IE 8 and below only, there's an IE bug of being unable to measure text width correctly, which causes tooltip text to flow over the edge of the tooltip. If this is the issue you're talking about, then I'm afraid we have nothing to suggest.

The problem I'm experiencing is when I hover over a column that's on
the far left or far right of my charts - the text gets cut off because
of weird layering.

Suppose I have a column chart that has longer labels -- if I hover on
a column that's on the left side of the chart, the text is cut off on
the left side of the tooltip; likewise, if I hover on a column that's
on the right side of the chart, the text is cut off on the right side
of the tooltip.

I am using these options in my chart, so that's why I'm surprised the
tooltip feature isn't working correctly:
width: 398,
height: 400,
chartArea: {left:40, right:40, top:20, bottom:10, width:320, height:
350},

Is there any way to reference the tooltip to change a style for the z-
index?

I don't think it's anything you can fix by changing the z-index.  The ends of the tooltip are outside the iframe the chart is contained in, so they don't render at all.  I suspect there is nothing we can do but wait until Google fixes the bug.

That's correct. This is the bug just introduced in the last release, and we're working on a fix.
